I read with interest the article “Pressuring the poachers” (Nov. 21) by Michael Meyer. It is heartening to note that the world is finally taking measures for the protection of wildlife. The statistics cited in the article are shocking. It is true that the cruelty of human beings knows no bounds. We are relentlessly destroying our planet.

It is not just these poor animals who are at the receiving end of our cruelty, we don’t even spare our fellow beings. Read any newspaper, most of the reports are about violence, wars, bloodshed and injustice. In such a situation, if there are still animals in the world, it should be called a miracle.
