The nomination and subsequent popularity of Donald Trump as a presidential frontrunner has left people around the world surprised. Trump’s popularity among the electorates also indicates a shift in the American mindset. It is the result of policies based on hatred and fear initiated during the presidency of Bush Jr. If one follows Trump’s statements on various policy issues, it would dawn on him that he is nothing but an upgraded version of Bush and his neocons.

Despite his soaring popularity in the opinion polls, the likelihood of his election as the next president of the United States is very less.

If a stroke of luck elected him to the top position, it would prove to be disastrous for the US. His speeches clearly show that he is very immature when it comes to politics. His views lack the depth required to become leader of a nation. Trump is only playing with the prevalent mass sentiments. Another reason for his rise is the absence of a strong contender for the top position. However, the situation is still uncertain. Anything is possible.

We all know that the right-wingers are powerful in the US and wield huge influence on the media. This might be one of the reasons for his soaring popularity. It is very easy to manipulate opinion polls results.
