I agree with the views express by Abdulrahman Al-Rashed in his article, “Terrorists in bounce back,” (Nov. 23). I would like to reiterate the fact that neutralizing the ideology of extremism is the most crucial way to combat terrorism. Settling scores by military wipe-out is going to help only in the short run, but so long as the ideology enjoys media support, propaganda and popularity, terrorism will rise back from the ashes .

In this era of social media, it is easy to find the platforms to lodge venomous ideology and hypnotize unassuming and vulnerable minds into believing in terrorism.

Campaigning to carefully close these accounts should be a priority. Also, a large scale awareness campaign is needed to instill the culture of moderation, transparency and peace. I still believe that terrorism with all its forms and manifestations stems from a legion of root causes. If we have to root it out, we should have full insight into all of theses causes and try to deal with them in a holistic approach.
