This is with reference to the article “Modi’s popularity on the wane” (Sept. 25) by Rajeev Sharma. I am not at all surprised by the decline in Modi’s popularity.

Narendra Modi basically gained from Congress’ weaknesses and failures. I don’t find Modi’s personality charismatic at all, as portrayed by our media during electioneering. It was all propaganda and people fell for it. Now Indians are realizing their mistake. The Delhi election result was a testimony to this realization. India is a secular country, which is fast emerging as an economic power. Communal politics can no longer survive in India.
