The trend of targeting African-American youths in the United States by the police is really disturbing.

It has become a routine thing to read reports about a white cop targeting some black men out of suspicion. It is really sad to read about all this in a country like the United States. Year 2004 has proven to be generally bad for the entire world. We witnessed many natural disasters, emergence of Ebola, hike in terrorism and three air tragedies one after the other. It also was not a very good year for the African-American youths. Trigger-happy police officials hunted them down without any concrete reason.

It is well-established practice in the world that police can shoot an unarmed “suspect” in the leg or arm under extreme conditions. But shooting someone in the back and belly is manslaughter and it is something totally unacceptable. We also read about a black man strangled to death by police officers in NYC, despite his desperate and repeated appeals, “I can’t breathe!”

Later it was revealed that he was an asthma patient. We wish that 2015 would bring a realistic change in the world.
