Tonight another round of the AFC Champions League will end with Ahli and Hilal. Ahli plays Nassr from UAE in Dubai, and Hilal takes on Ray’yan from Qatar in Riyadh.
I think the match will be very simple for Ahli which won its first match in the championship and is still showing good plays in the league.
Unfortunately, it is a different case for Hilal. I have a bad feeling about this and I wish I will be proven wrong. Their current situation, with the entire team from players, coach to management is not looking good. If we will base our assumptions at their disappointing beginning and how they played against Al-Ain, their chances of making it to the second round is not very good. Not to mention the new schedule for the last rounds of the league. But like I said, I wish they can prove me wrong.
As for the other two teams in the Asian Champions League, Shabab and Ittifaq had their matches yesterday, against Jazirah in Abu Dhabi and against Lakhuwaya in Dammam respectively. Shabab can be compared to Ahli in the sense that they won in the first round but they don’t seem to follow through. Ittifaq I think, even it has lost in the first round, still has a better standing than Hilal.
Going back to the Saudi league, Fateh has a 99.9 percent chance of winning, if you ask me. What a shame for Ahli,Nassr and Ittifaq for not winning the championship despite trying for decades while Fateh, in the premier league only a few years ago, is now leading the race. A bigger shame for Hilal which gave up their championship bid so easily. Cheers to Fateh, the dark horse of the league who threw everyone by surprise.
