This is with reference to the article “For a sustainable future” (March 1) by Zia Qureshi. I fail to understand insistence of these so-called experts on the use of renewable energy. Although this article addressed other issues as well, the term renewable energy got my goat.

Why don’t these experts highlight the fact that renewable energy is far more expensive than fossil fuels? Switching over to renewable energy may be feasible for developed nations (which are interestingly reluctant to do that) but for underdeveloped countries such a step would not bode well. Experts and global institutions should force developed industrial nations to cut down greenhouse emissions by following safe industrial practices. Of course, they can’t do that because might is right in today’s world. Why should countries, which are not responsible for the climate chaos, be made to pay for the sins of others?
