This refers to the report “1 dead, 15 injured in Al-Kharj road accident” (Feb. 26). It is really a cause for great concern that an innocent life was lost due to someone’s negligence. In most of the cases, road accidents do take place due to over speeding and non-adherence to traffic rules. Also, drifting away from one lane to another without giving proper indication may lead to accidents.

It has been seen that some people when they seat behind the wheel always seem to be in haste. This unnecessary urgency on the road causes a lot of problems for others and sometimes it leads to fatal accidents. I think these reckless drivers must be punished severely without any impunity. For safe driving, it is always advisable to maintain proper line and keep the speed of the vehicle within the prescribed limit, and one should not overtake if the view of the other side is not clear and traffic on the road is heavy.

Also, violators of the traffic laws must understand that human life is very precious and due to their recklessness, there is always a chance that others might as well suffer for no fault of them. — Annes Lokhande, Alkhobar
