This is with reference to the report “Pakistani mother begs to be reunited with son stuck in India” (Oct. 31). I am sure this unfortunate mother must have had contacted various media outlets to help make her voice heard in this wilderness but her requests must have been turned down. Thanks to the Bollywood blockbuster “Bajrangi Bhai Jan” and the Geeta episode, her case made the headlines. India and Pakistan should try to treat such cases differently by setting aside their unnecessary political rivalry.

Pakistan has set an example for India to follow. The Indian side should now reciprocate in a positive manner. The masses should not be made to suffer due to politics. We are only concerned about our bread and butter. I urge the Indian authorities to make efforts to repatriate Mohammad Ramazan to Pakistan immediately. We should stop treating each other with suspicions. The world is moving ahead at a fast pace and we are still licking the wounds of 1947. It is time to move on and work for a better future.
