The article “How to benefit from Qur’an” (Nov. 13) was very nice and informative. It should be treated as a guideline to increase one’s understanding of the divine book. Unfortunately, we Muslims don’t ponder over the verses of the Qur’an. Reading the Qur’an is also an act of worship in itself but it is our duty to read this book over and over again and to try to understand the meanings of the holy verses. One would be surprised to note that each time a verse from the Qur’an exposes a person a new world of understanding. Continuous reflection expands a person’s mental faculties.

In the Qur’an, Allah has ordered His servants to contemplate His favors and gifts. We should understand that our life in this world is temporary. It is, therefore, unwise to consume one’s energy for this temporary life. We need to work for the world where we have to live forever. That does not mean one should abandon the worldly life, as it is against the teachings of our Prophet (peace be upon him). The worldly pleasures should not blind us to the truth.
