I read with interest the article “Promoting tourism in EP” (Nov. 16) by Abdulateef Al-Mulhim. Undoubtedly, Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector has a huge potential. The Kingdom has many historical sites that could become major tourist attractions. In addition to that Saudi Arabia has also been blessed with natural beauty, as mentioned in the article. Tourism industry can help create millions of job opportunities for young Saudis. It needs proper planning and effective promotion. The authorities, however, should try to impart adequate training to those willing to join the tourism industry. It is very important for them to know how to deal with people coming from different cultures.
