This is with reference to the article “The American political circus” (Jan. 15) by Elizabeth Drew. The rise of Donald Trump on the American political scene is a disturbing development. After reading the article, my fear of seeing Trump in the White House has spiked. The American election exercise is very much different from other countries. At this stage, apart from Hillary Clinton I don’t see any other candidate bright enough to enter into the final race to the Oval.

Before voting Trump, the Americans should think twice. He is a bigot, who is trying to exploit the global situation at home to his advantage. Stoking hatred toward other people or communities may work during electioneering but after elections situation changes drastically.

I am surprised at the Republican Party’s choice for the office. The other day, I watched his interview during which he was unable to hide his real self. He did not appear to be very educated, articulate and a balanced person.
