Apropos the report “Put Israel on notice to end crimes: KSA” (Jan 28). Indeed, Israel has been violating international laws for a long time. It has been grabbing the Palestinian land constantly, killing them at random and razing their homes. What is surprising is that the United Nations does not take any concrete action against the rogue state. Hence, one fails to understand why there is a need for an organization like the UN when it cannot protect weak countries and always plays into the hands of superpowers.

It has been observed that the UN is always prompt in issuing verbal condemnation, but has miserably failed to take action against rogue state like Israel.

America, which considers itself as a world police, has done nothing to stop Israel from building settlements in Palestinian areas and erecting apartheid-style walls, and killing innocent Palestinians for no fault of theirs.

Obama is indeed a good orator and knows how to deliver speeches, but practically, he has been proved as the weakest president America has ever produced. He has been a silent spectator to the situation in Palestine as well as some other issues. Almost four years ago, he was very energetic about army action against the Assad regime, but suddenly took a U-turn. It has also been observed that Obama has developed a soft corner for Shiite countries like Iran, which is evident from his moves like supporting the lifting of sanctions against Iran.

The US president has been prompt in taking action against terror organizations like Al-Qaeda, Taliban and Daesh, but has failed to take action against Bashar Assad, Hezbollah militants or Houthi terrorists, all of whom enjoy Iran’s backing.

Obama weeps about the gun culture in America, but his heart does not melt when thousands of innocent civilians are being butchered in Syria, Iraq and Palestine on a daily basis. Being a superpower, the US is expected to act in a just and effective manner.
