This is with reference to the report “Qatif attack ‘divisive design’” (May 23). It is really sad to read reports of such incidents occurring in Saudi Arabia. As the headline suggests, this dastardly attack is nothing but an attempt to drive a wedge between the Sunni and Shiite communities otherwise living in perfect harmony in the Kingdom.

Every Saudi — belonging to any tribe or sect — wholeheartedly supports the Kingdom’s leadership and its foreign policy and domestic initiatives. We, Saudis, are very religious people but supporting the deviant ideology of the so-called Islamic State (IS) is out of question. No such organization would ever succeed in exploiting our religious sentiments. I urge all Saudis and expatriates to forge unity among their ranks and foil the attempts of stirring unrest in the Kingdom. We wish to offer our condolences to all those who lost their loved ones in the heinous attack at the mosque in Qatif.
