It was disgusting on the part of Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rahman Malik and leader of Jamaat-ud-Daawa Hafiz Saeed to comment on what Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan wrote in a magazine article giving vent to his frustration over religious tension among communities in India.
First of all SRK didn’t call for help from these two gentlemen. They unnecessarily spoke out of their turn on the issue. Leaders from a country, which is beset by sectarian, tribal and ethnic conflicts, need to put their own house in order before nosing around.
I find these unwarranted comments from Malik and Saeed as a conspiracy against Indian Muslims. Such a cheap attempt to score a point may force Indian Muslims to keep quiet on their issues. Such matters are generally hijacked by jihadi groups for propaganda purposes, providing a tool to Indian Hindu extremists to lash out at Muslims.
It is better if these gentlemen spend their energies in nabbing and punishing the killers of Salman Taseer, Shahbaz Bhatti, Benazir Bhutto, Ghulam Bilor, Manzar Imam and 40,000 Pakistanis killed by terrorists in last 10 years.
It was also disgusting to find both Malik and Saeed on the same page, but perhaps that’s the reality which shall be recognized as reason for the ongoing turmoil in the country. — Masood Khan, Jubail
