Pinning hopes on the United Nations to resolve the ongoing problems in Yemen is a waste of time. If one goes by the UN’s track record, it has miserably failed in resolving issues pertaining to the Muslim world. Be it Iraq, Afghanistan or the lingering Arab-Israel dispute, the UN has never taken any drastic measure to punish or restrain the aggressors. The long-standing Kashmir issue is also a glaring example of UN’s utter failure as an organization.

The Gulf Cooperation Council, the Arab League and other Muslim organizations should try to devise a strategy to resolve all the issues facing the Muslim world. That is the only way out of the current turmoil. The UN is nothing but a tool in the hands of the West. We should realize that nobody else could solve our problems; we have to take steps ourselves. I don’t wish to blame the western countries. They have the right to act only in their interest. The same should apply to Muslim countries as well.

I also urge all Muslim countries and those nations, which feel wronged by the UN to walk out of this organization and form a body of their own so as to protect their interests in an effective manner.

All Muslim countries should step up their diplomatic and political efforts so as to pressure Iran to abandon its expansionist designs in the region.
