I read with great interest the article “Between a rock and a hard place” (Feb. 6) by Nadeem M. Qureshi. The writer has raised a very important issue. Unfortunately, our so-called leaders don’t seem to possess even this basic knowledge about economic issues. After going through the article, I realized that managing the economic affairs of Pakistan only need the political will and sincerity of our leaders. Sadly, we don’t have a leader who could steer the country out of the current crises. All of them are just politicians, who only believe on vote-bank politics. They don’t want permanent solutions to various lingering issues, as without problems they would not be in a position to campaign for power. Pakistan has been blessed with all sorts of natural resources but our politicians don’t want the country to prosper. They are playing the game of “divide and rule” to promote their selfish interests.
