This is with reference to the article “Political wrangling risks Pakistan’s progress” (Feb. 18) by Muhammad Waqas. It is so sad that our political parties politicize every issue completely ignoring their impact on the country’s growth.

The lingering issue of Kalabagh dam project is an example. Had the political forces opposed this project due to technical reasons, it would have been justified. Unfortunately, they unnecessary use the provincial card to oppose such projects. Every Pakistani should be ready to offer sacrifices for the country in one way or the other. The problem with our politicians is that they are focused on vote politics. They just want to please their constituencies for short-term gains or to gain power. Most of them have no vision for the country.

Our country is blessed with huge natural resources but they remain untapped. This is so unfortunate. I pray that we get a strong leadership, which would help the country steer out of the current crises.
