TAIF: Seventeen Umrah visitors were injured, some of them seriously, when their bus collided with a car on the Hijrah highway recently.

The bus was proceeding to Makkah when the accident happened, an online newspaper reported on Sunday, without giving details of the fate of the car or its passengers.

Ali bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, the official spokesman of Red Crescent in Makkah, was quoted as saying that eight emergency teams and two helicopters went to the scene of the accident.

One of the injured pilgrims is in a critical condition, he said.

All the injured were treated on the spot before being taken to hospital, Al-Ghamdi said. “Four were airlifted to hospital while the remaining 13 were taken in ambulances,” he added.
