Two young men were shot and wounded by unknown masked men who abducted them in the town of Awwamiyya in Al Qatif on Sunday, police said.

In a statement, the police said that the victims were taken to a nearby area where the assailants beat them up and shot them in the feet before dumping them by a roadside.

Local residents who found the victims took them to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police said an investigation is going on.

Awamiya had seen a number of shooting incidents and murders in the past months, including the death of a terror suspect in a gunbattle with security forces in a late-night operation on Sept. 27.
