The Ministry of Health said in a report that the Forensic Medicine Center received a total of 2,935 criminal death cases with males accounting for 2,481 or 84 percent and females at 440 cases or 15 percent of the total number of cases in the Kingdom last year.

The report also revealed that there were 1,760 criminal death cases among non-Saudis last year involving 47 nationalities. Indians topped the list with 372 cases, representing 21 percent of the total followed by Pakistanis at 257 or 14 percent, Ethiopians with 185 cases translating to 10.5 percent and Bangladeshis with the least number of cases at 177 representing 10 percent.

The number of criminal deaths involving Saudis, on the other hand, stood at 869 cases representing 29 percent while unidentified nationalities accounted for 306 cases.

The report cited a number of unnatural deaths, including suicide with 488 cases, representing 31 percent, murders at 401 with 26 percent, and accidental deaths with 534 cases, representing 34 percent of the total.

In addition, the report included cases where the center dealt with cases that survived the crime such as pregnancy, toxic gas inhalations, investigations on the presence of alcohol or drugs, gunshot injuries and others which amounted to 1,425 cases in total with Saudis accounting for 864, representing 60 percent, while the number of non-Saudis stood at 541 cases with 38 percent.
