Jedddah: The local committee for the municipal elections and the education department in the Eastern Province have approved the establishment of 41 offices for electoral support services and election process monitors.

The approval came during a recent meeting in the presence of local committee coordinator Abdulaziz Al-Hafez, secretary Abdulmohsen Al-Marzouq and representatives from the department of education.

Mohammed Al-Sufian, spokesman of EP municipality, said the meeting discussed many important issues to facilitate the electoral process, the first phase of which begin in the month of Dhul Qadah.

Al-Sufian said the committee wants to establish 41 offices for support services to both men and women. The offices will be staffed with qualified and trained members whose main tasks will include monitoring candidates’ advertisement campaigns and representatives of the committee for dispute settlement and appeals and controllers of the election process.

“For the first time during the municipal elections, a main office for support services will be established at the headquarters of the municipality, in addition to another 20 sub-offices which will be allocated for women. Twenty offices will be established for men,” said Al-Sufian.

Abdulaziz Al-Hafez, director-general of the municipality’s financial and administrative affairs department, said the meeting discussed the cooperation between the education department and the municipality to facilitate the electoral process.
