JEDDAH: The Makkah governorate has launched a youth training program to help young people develop their skills and turn them into a source of wealth for the country.
The program targets 45 young leaders, both male and female, in the first phase of training which commenced Sunday.
Hamza Gaad Kareem, supervisor of the training program, said the main aim of the program is to develop young leaders in the Makkah region and equip them with mental, behavioral skills and values that will help them achieve their goals in different areas of life.
He said the initiative is part of the Makkah governorate's responsibility toward youth development, as youth are the wealth of the country. He added that the training programs, development projects and information campaigns are aimed at young people in order to inspire them to be active and play a positive role in improving their communities.
He explained that the project consists of four elements or values according to the Qur’an and Sunnah: skills development, social studies, industry development and a graduation project.
The program will be completed over eight weeks, with the first phase targeting youth in Makkah, Jeddah and Rabigh.
He said that the program is a step toward enabling the youth in the community to become influential in their surroundings through providing them skills and tools that increase the quality and efficiency of their personal life management, their mental quality, and behavioral habits. He indicated that 15 men and women were chosen to participate in the program from each city in the Makkah Province and were selected from among hundreds of candidates. It is expected that the training program will promote loyalty to the Kingdom and the discovery and development of young peoples' talents.
