Some 80 orphans were overjoyed to receive food boxes for breaking their fast from the Sheraton Hotel in Riyadh.

“The children, whose ages ranged from 7 to 17, were very happy indeed about the iftar boxes,” said Paul Dunphy, Sheraton general manager. The hotel has been providing iftar boxes to the orphans for the last four years.

The orphans are under the custody of the local government, which maintains an orphanage near Sulaimaniah District in the Saudi capital. “The orphans considered these boxes gifts on the occasion of the holy month.

“Being young, they’re looking for love and care from others since they have lost their parents. So simple little boxes such as these fill a void in their hearts,” Dunphy said.

He added that the children had become a source of inspiration “for the hotel team and we look forward to developing our relationship with them long into the future.”

Dunphy added that aside from the orphans, the hotel is also planning to give iftar boxes to taxi drivers, who will be randomly selected.

“Limousine drivers are working hard. We feel and think that anything given them on the occasion of Ramadan will make them happy,” he said.
