MADINAH: Several Madinah residents have called on the traffic department to take action because of several fatalities on Fadel bin Abbas Road, known locally as the “Walkway,” which saw six people killed over the past month.

They said that the authorities must erect signage and speed humps in the road to ensure drivers slow down in the area, which is near a park and used by the local community for recreation, a local publication reported Monday.

Abu Onoq, a resident, said that it was extremely dangerous for people to walk in the neighborhood. In addition, there was no signage for drivers and pedestrians, or traffic lights. Several people were knocked over there recently, he said.

Mohammad Fahad, another resident, said the current situation needs to be dealt with because the area was extremely dangerous. There was also need for more patrols on the road, which has four lanes, he said.
