JEDDAH: Law enforcement agencies arrested 24 people on charges of terrorism between Dec. 31 and Jan. 6, according to an online newspaper. Those arrested include Mufeed bin Ahmad Hassan Al-Omran.

Al-Omran was allegedly involved in kidnapping a citizen at gunpoint and firing at him in Tarot town. A machine gun, a revolver inside a bag, two face masks, hand gloves, hashish and illegal pills were also seized.

The Ministry of Interior announced that Al-Omran, who was wanted by security forces, was arrested in Al-Qadeeh.

Aside from him, 23 others were arrested for terrorism. Twenty of the arrested are Saudis, two Syrians and two Yemenis.

On Dec. 31, the Ministry of Interior issued a statement in which it announced the arrest of Mufeed Al-Omran, against whom there was proof of involvement in a number of crimes, including firing at an on-duty security patrol team in a farming area of Saihat in Qatif. This incident resulted in the death of a police officer.
