As the Eid Al-Adha vacation approaches, fish restaurants in and around Jeddah have raised the prices of the precious marine food considerably taking advantage of the peak season. Large numbers of residents are flocking to the restaurants and outlets on the highways on the city’s outskirts only to be disappointed at the soaring prices.

The price rise has particularly affected Nagel and Grouper, the more popular fish types. Customers complained to Arab News about the sharp hike in prices of fish in fish restaurants in Jeddah and on the Jeddah-Makkah-Madinah highway.

The unjustified spike has left customers feeling cheated and they have called upon authorities to impose penalties and regulate the prices in fish restaurants.
