JEDDAH: The Saudi Embassy in Turkey has advised Saudi citizens not to travel to Turkey, if not absolutely necessary, until the situation in the region calms down, but stopped short of officially asking the Foreign Ministry for a travel ban.

The embassy urged Saudi citizens to contact the mobile number of the official responsible for Saudi citizens’ affairs at the Consulate General in Ankara and Istanbul before traveling to Turkey.

The consul general, Mossad Al-Knawy, has been responding to questions of travelers via mail and mobile phone, and called on Saudi citizens in Istanbul to exercise caution and stay away from crowded places.
