JEDDAH: The General Directorate for Health Affairs in Baha has confirmed that the five cases of deceased newborns recently were only a coincidence, ruling out the possibility of neglect or intentional acts that may have led to the death of these babies.

Just a few days ago, the intensive care unit at King Fahd Hospital in Baha witnessed the death of five newborn premature babies on two consecutive days. The Baha health department said in a statement to local media that the health conditions of the newborn babies were extremely critical, adding that they suffered from many diseases.

"The chances of their health conditions improving were very low, despite all the medical care that was provided for them.

The department did not find anything concretely linking the death of these newborns together, but rather found that it was a coincidence that it all happened within two days," the statement said.
