The pleasant temperature witnessed in the city of Jeddah, also known as the bride of the Red Sea, has always encouraged residents to seize the opportunity to partake in fun outdoor activities. Residents usually head toward the city’s coastline to camp out and barbecue, enjoying the beautiful weather and sea view.

The Corniche has been renovated now and Jeddah Municipality has forbidden the use of fire and any cooking utensils in the area. Large signboards have been placed everywhere urging citizens not to indulge in such activities, and municipality employees as well as volunteers are present to enforce the ban. Visitors, who wish to enjoy the renovated coastal site and feast on a delicious meal, are requested to prepare their food and to even boil water for their hot beverages at home.

On the other hand, the ban has created new opportunities for many to sell food and beverages on the roadside.

The area around the Fatima Zahra Mosque remains immune to the ban and the old culture of barbecuing still prevails, as the renovation work has still not started there.
