RIYADH: Riyadh Municipality overhauled preparedness for the upcoming Eid Al-Adha that included locations for selling sacrificial animals, slaughterhouses and kitchens.
The municipality named three markets for selling sacrificial animals: Aziziyah market (Hail Road), Saadah market (Jakarta Road) and Araijah market (Jeddah Road), besides 10 more. While selecting market areas, proper care was taken to serve the large population in an orderly manner, ensuring health safety.
The municipality has posted a number of guidance boards on streets for easy access to sales points of sacrificial animals during Sept. 7-15. The civic body also prepared seven integrated slaughterhouses equipped with the required mechanized and human needs, readily spread throughout a number of districts.
Meanwhile, a big tent was prepared for each slaughterhouse, equipped with seats, air conditioning and a TV screen that will allow customers to monitor their sacrificial animals live. Hot and cold drinks will also be available in the tent.
In its continued drive to improve services, the municipality will also launch a number of mobile slaughterhouses to minimize random slaughterhouses, which lack the minimal required health conditions.
Similarly, the municipality has allowed citizens and residents to have their animals slaughtered near their houses, with integrated hygiene precautions.
Slaughtering in nearby kitchens will run for three days (the 1st, 2nd and 3rd days of Eid). In the meantime, the municipality has allocated a round-the-clock emergency call number (940) to receive reports from citizens and residents and their inquiries on temporary slaughterhouses or sales points.
