The King Abdullah Relief Campaign for Pakistani People (KARCPP) recently launched a project to distribute more than 8,000 school bags and uniforms to orphans and victims of natural disasters in Pakistan.

“The 8,000 bags contain school books, stationery and uniforms for orphans and less fortunate children,” said Khayyam Akbar, deputy head of the Pakistan mission. “The Saudi government and its people have always supported Pakistani brothers in times of crisis.”

“The relationship between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan has always been very strong,” he said. “This gesture is a very positive initiative toward fostering a better education for Pakistani children.”

“Both countries are working together to strengthen bilateral ties for economic and social development,” he said. “Mutual cooperation is focused on the economic, trade, political, education and tourism sectors.”

KARCPP is a Pakistan-based Saudi relief organization working across provinces in Pakistan to help alleviate the suffering of residents affected by the 2010 floods.

Pakistani Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan discussed bilateral relations and issues of common interest in his meeting with Riyadh Gov. Prince Khaled bin Bandar on Monday.

Khan also outlined the recent tours of Saudi dignitaries to Pakistan, including Crown Prince Salman and Prince Saud Al-Faisal.

“Ambassador Khan was warmly hosted by the Riyadh governor,” Akbar said. “Both leaders discussed the issue of Pakistani prisoners in Saudi jails and the problems faced by the Pakistan International School in Riyadh.”
