JEDDAH: The Sakina campaign of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowment, Call and Guidance announced it will soon complete updating its awareness programs aimed at promoting moderation.

The new updates will involve the introduction of its programs in three new languages, French, German and Russian. The campaign said its messages and activities address Muslims and non-Muslims.

Abdel Moneim Al-Mushawah, head of the campaign, said the step comes within the framework of expanding its global project to support moderation among Islamic societies across the world via the Internet.

“The campaign already launched its project in Turkish aimed at approaching the current affairs of Islamic societies with moderation and avoiding extremism and terrorism. It also aims to instruct that all relations among different societies be promoted and built on the basis of mutual and balanced cooperation and moderation,” he explained.

“Since the launch of the campaign via the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, its efforts seek to realize a set of noble objectives, including overcoming political obstacles hindering the progress of people and civil organizations of living in harmony and peace,” Al-Mushawah was quoted as saying to a local publication. He said that the Sakina campaign managed to move from the level of defense to be a participant and a giving partner in formulating the renaissance of a concept of moderation.

He said expanding the program to involve international languages will contribute in the dissemination of moderate thinking and the promotion of the concept of coexistence as millions of Muslims live in the countries speaking the aforementioned languages. In regard to the Turkish awareness programs, officials in the campaign said the project will enhance relations between the two countries in view of Turkey’s balanced global awareness and the country’s glorious past in the formation of the Islamic civilization.

“Turkey is an outstanding example in combining the different cultures, religions and sects, so the convergence of these two civilizations politically and intellectually will have a great impact on other areas, especially in promoting moderation and balanced relations between the two countries” they said.
