The General Directorate of Civil Defense in Makkah has warned the children against playing with fireworks without the supervision of their parents.

Col. Saeed Sarhan, spokesman for the Civil Defense in Makkah, said such explosive materials pose dangers to children’s lives and adults alike, leading sometimes to death.

The directorate in the region appealed to parents to avoid fireworks because of their extreme danger to children and establishments. He demanded that parents supervise their children closely in parks and around pools to avoid drowning for those who cannot swim, and to make sure pools are fenced for further protection and safety for all.

Speaking about the post-Eid preparedness, Col. Sarhan said the plan involved a round the clock security watch in all the regions, conducting patrols at all commercial establishments, rented apartments and rest houses to detect any violation that might threaten public safety.

He said coordination with other competent bodies is continuing during the Eid days to ensure a safe environment for citizens and residents.
