JEDDAH: The families of military personnel who laid down their lives for the nation have the right to stay in military or government housing units. A proposal in this regard and many other issues pertaining to martyrs’ families will be discussed at the Shoura Council meeting on Monday.

A family that lives in a house on its own expenses has the right to receive a lump sum amount of SR500,000 according to the legal provisions, local media reported on Saturday.

Any family that moves from a government-allotted house before the end of five years will receive SR100,000 for each remaining year.

The issues to be taken up for discussions are as follows.

The family of a martyr will be granted a 900 square meter residential plot in a preferred location. Besides, such a family is also given priority to borrow from the Real Estate Development Fund if they have not borrowed before.

An urgent sum of SR1 million to be distributed among the family members, in addition to the disbursement of an urgent aid for the father, mother and wife of the martyr of SR 50,000, and another SR50,000 for the children of the martyr which will be handed over to family members, with the father, mother and wife to receive a monthly salary of SR 5,000.

The school fees and cost of transport to and from school for the children of martyrs will be paid with a maximum limit of SR 50,000 for each child, in addition to an annual bonus on the occasion of Eids for the family amounting to SR25,000, and to host the family of the martyr and a mehram if necessary to perform Haj once under the A category.

A one-time marriage assistance of SR60,000 to be provided to each of the martyr’s sons, and SR40,000 for the daughter along with jobs for them.

If the martyr is unmarried or his children are minors, two of his brothers will be provided jobs, and the sons will get jobs once they reach adulthood.
