Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, will honor the winners of the King Khaled Prize at a function in Riyadh on Sunday.

“The King Khaled Prize aims to encourage efforts aimed at social development and service in various fields,” Asir Gov. Prince Faisal bin Khaled, chairman of the King Khaled Prize Committee, said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency on Friday.

The prize also seeks to serve as an incentive to both private and public sectors to strive for development of individuals in society, the prince added.

The King Khaled Medal of Honor will be awarded to late Prince Naif in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the service of the nation, particularly for his efforts to maintain security in the Kingdom, Prince Faisal said.

The prizes are constituted under three major heads — partners for development, nonprofitable organizations and responsible competition.

Badr Al-Omri won the first prize in the category of Partners in Development in recognition of his initiative for the integration of people with hearing impairment with the mainstream of society, which enabled them to be normal members of society. His is a noncommercial scientific initiative.

The prize for the nonprofitable national organization in the charitable service category has been awarded to three organizations for distinguished administrative performance. They are also registered with the Ministry of Social Affairs. The first goes to the Unaizah Society for Social Development and Humanitarian Service while the second position has been bagged by the Women’s Awakening Society and the third prize for the Charity Society for Orphan Care (INSAN).

The prizes under the head of responsible competition were bagged by Dr. Suleiman Fakeih Hospital, National Company Petrochemical Industries (Natpet) and the National Water Company.
