A Saudi citizen has confessed to murdering and burning his father’s corpse after reportedly suffering years of abuse at the hands of his old man, reported an online paper.

The case had baffled police, who received a notification from the Civil Defense Department in Riyadh recently about a fire on the ground floor of a villa in the city.

The fire was immediately extinguished, but agencies conducted a thorough inspection and determined the cause of the fire to be an act of arson to conceal a crime after liaising with forensic experts.

Experts ruled that the victim was killed by gunshots. Investigations eventually revealed the killer, who turned out to be the son of the victim.
