JEDDAH: The Kingdom executed Monday a Syrian drug trafficker and a Saudi convicted of murder. The latest beheadings took the total number of executions this year to 100.

Syrian Ismael Al-Tawm smuggled "a large amount of banned amphetamine pills into the Kingdom," the Saudi Press Agency quoted an Interior Ministry statement as saying. He was executed in the Al-Jouf Province.

A separate statement said that Rami Al-Khaldi was convicted of stabbing another compatriot to death and was executed in Taif.

Under the Kingdom's law, drug trafficking, rape, murder and armed robbery are punishable by death.
