RIYADH: A duststorm swept Riyadh for the second day on Tuesday with an increase in temperature and reduced visibility on roads accompanied by warm winds starting at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

“It was business as usual, however, as city residents were in the streets driving to various part of the city although visibility was poor,” said Cenon “Nonie” C. Sagadal, Jr., a banker. He said many people walking in the streets were wearing face-masks to avoid inhaling dust. The Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental (PME) said the visibility was about 1 km. A car accident took place near King Fahd Road, he said.

“I could also hear the siren of traffic police cars headed toward Khurais Road although I’m not sure whether it was due to an accident,” he said.

In the Eastern Province, a slight duststorm was experienced. But unlike in Riyadh, the residents did not complain so much of hot weather which was about 38 degree Celsius. “This is the third day, though, that we have experienced this kind of weather,” said Ed R. Rodriguez, who works for a car spare parts company in Alkhobar.
