MADINAH: Egyptians made the highest number of visitors to Madinah this Umrah season, followed by pilgrims from Pakistan, Indonesia, India and Malaysia.

There have been 565,363 people from all over the word who have entered the Kingdom to perform Umrah so far, 91 percent by air. This number is likely to double in the next two weeks, according to a Haj Ministry report quoted by a local publication on Tuesday.

Mohammad Al-Bejawi, head of the ministry in the city, said his teams have made 3,583 inspections to ensure pilgrims leave the Kingdom. Also, 862 people were provided guidance and 1,090 given directions after getting lost. These figures are likely to shoot up in the coming weeks, he said.

He said the ministry was operating several guidance centers on a 24-hour basis on the religious places in the city and a safekeeping service.
