JUBAIL: An elderly woman lost her life and seven were injured on Saturday evening in a fire at a two-story house in Jubail.
Mansour Al-Dossari, spokesman for the Directorate of Civil Defense in the Eastern Province, said: “The fire was limited to two rooms on the ground floor as Civil Defense personnel rushed to the scene and controlled the fire that resulted in the death of an elderly woman and the injury of seven members of her family.”
Al-Dossari said that the victims suffered minor injuries, ranging between fainting, suffocation and burns, and they were transferred to Jubail General Hospital.
Hesaid five firefighting brigades, Civil Defense rescue teams, and two ambulance teams from the Red Crescent and the Royal Commission participated in extinguishing the fire and shifting the dead and injured to the hospital.
Meanwhile, authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
