RIYADH: Claims of a cyber attack on the website of the Foreign Ministry on May 22 are not true and that it was an electronic attack, which is being investigated, an official has said.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Osama Nugali said that what is being circulated on social media is linked to an electronic attack of the ministry's website. "The technological system used in the ministry is of the highest quality and is used internationally and hacking into classified documents is not possible. The documents are well protected."

Warning against helping the attackers in any way, the official called on citizens to avoid publishing any documents supposedly leaked by the groups, especially since these are clear fabrications. Indulging in such acts is a crime, he added.

Nugali said that those who tried to attack the ministry's website will be caught and punished.
