TAIF: Many businessmen have annexed public spaces to their private properties illegally.

In Taif, a local newspaper spotted the takeover by a number of villa owners of the streets next to their homes. Subsequently, the government gave a violation ticket to one of them.

In the Badai governorate, a businessman closed a street for four years. The governor said that the violation ticket has been challenged in court.

Some businessmen encroach on public streets and treat them as their own property. Fourteen years ago, in the Um Al-Arad neighborhood, a real estate dealer took over a street and annexed it to his villa so that it could become a corridor, which caused an obstruction to traffic.

Three other subsidiary streets in Al-Sadad neighborhood were taken over by businessmen. One of them turned the public street into a parking lot, put umbrellas in the middle and planted the sidewalk. Another businessman took over another street and turned it into a private entrance for his house. Meanwhile, another one seized a nearby street and made it an entrance for his house and closed the entrance of a nearby park.

A number of citizens wondered why the government is quiet about such violations conducted by these businessmen.
