Public and private hospitals in the Eastern Province received 436,121 patients in the year 1434 AH, according to a recent report.

A total of 104,120 patients were admitted to public hospitals in the region, of which 89 percent were Saudi nationals. Hospitalization periods averaged about 4.9 days for the majority of illnesses, 3.2 days for maternity cases, and up to 54.4 days for psychiatric, respiratory and fever-related cases, according to the report.

The number of patients admitted to private hospitals during the same period was 171,577, of which 63 percent were Saudis.

In Al-Ahsaa, 101,616 inpatients were admitted to public hospitals, of which 95% were Saudi nationals, while 36,740 in-patients were admitted to private hospitals, 73 percent were Saudi nationals, the report stated. A total of 19,299 patients were admitted to public hospitals in the province of Hafr Al-Batin, according to the report, 94 percent of who were Saudi nationals. Private hospitals admitted 2,769 patients in the province, 78 percent of who were Saudi nationals.
