Expatriates living in the Saudi capital are planning to spend their Ramadan and summer holidays in various parts of the country and abroad this year. Some plan to spend a few days in the Eastern Province, while others will be crossing the King Fahd Causeway into Bahrain. There would also be those traveling by car to Dubai.

“My two boys have been asking their mother when we would be going to Alkhobar to spend time on the beach,” said Eric P. Asi, an engineer.

He said he has spent his last few years in the Eastern Province by either renting a flat or pitching a tent on the beach. He hopes that by the time he goes it would not be so hot.

Syed Iqbal, a Pakistani working at a printing firm, said he would also be spending a few days in the Eastern Province.

“My better half and my kids love to grill fresh fish. This has been the main purpose of going apart from bonding as a family.” His children also love to go to the beach to dig for shells, he said.

Meynard Pesig, an engineer, said he would be heading to Alkhobar for the third time in as many years with his wife Sunny May. “Our visit to the seashore in Alkhobar during the Ramadan holidays has always been pleasant and leisurely and ends up with us taking pictures,” he said.
