RIYADH: Faculty members and students at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University on Tuesday expressed their happiness over the return of Dr. Sulaiman bin Abdullah bin Hamud Aba Al-Khail.
A royal decree had been issued appointing Dr. Aba Al-Khail as director of the university with the rank of minister.
He had earlier been a director of the university from 2007 until December 2014, and after that he was appointed Minister of Islamic Affairs. Then he was relieved in January 2015.
A reception was held on the occasion, during which an influx of faculty members, students and staff congratulated him, expressing happiness over his return.
“They showed affection for Dr. Aba Al-Khail on the occasion as they walked up to and exchanged pleasantries with him,” an online report said.
Dr. Aba Al-Khail contributed to the advancement of the university through a series of resolutions passed during his eight-year tenure as university administrator.
“He made the university one of the world-class institutions of learning as it promoted science among its faculty, students and employees,” the report said.
For his part, Dr. Aba Al-Khail expressed happiness in rejoining the university and in being among the faculty, students and employees.
“It has always been a source of joy and happiness to be with you in the past and that has not changed. I’ll treasure every minute in being with you. Let’s walk hand in hand in the search for knowledge,” he said.
He added that at this point in time, he keeps on learning, assimilating new knowledge and ideas not only from books but also from everyone.
“Learning is a continuous process. It’s a continuous process of becoming,” said Aba Al-Khail, who had earlier been a lecturer at the Faculty of Shariah and Religion in Qassim.
