The Audio-Visual Authority (AVA) is taking steps to issue a list for filming in public places and tourist locations in the Kingdom by the month-end, which will include imposition of fees for filming visual programs and adverts.

AVA President Najem said the list hasn’t been issued yet, and is still under study. He said the list will be issued next month after taking sufficient review time.

According to the new rules, visual programs will now require a permit and cost SR299 for each day of filming for a minimum of three days. Filming a visual series will cost SR300 for the same period while filming ads and announcement permits will cost SR500 for each day up to a minimum of three days.

The monthly cost for visual programs will be SR3000, SR4500 for visual series and SR7500 for ads. It is further stipulated that the filming team will be accompanied by a Saudi official approved by the authority

Those who are authorized to film should communicate with the relevant department of the authority, answer their queries and offer any information and data. They should also be committed to any directions communicated to them.
