A former secretary general of Jeddah governorate has come under the scanner of the National Anti Corruption Commission (Nazaha), which has started investigating allegations about eight grants given through a royal decree in Al-Makhawat municipality in Al-Baha.

The former secretary general gave seven of these grants to members of his family and the eighth was registered in a relative’s name.

Nazaha sent a letter to Al-Baha secretary general pointing out the importance of launching investigations to determine the authenticity of lands granted to family members of the former secretary general. It stressed the need to allow the commission’s employees to carry out their duty by giving them copies of all relevant documents, in line with certain provisions in article five of its system.

The commission started investigations after receiving a call from a citizen saying Al-Mikhawat municipality gave the awarded lands to the family of former secretary general even though they were not residents of the area.
