RIYADH: A gang five men has been arrested in the capital for their alleged involvement in theft cases and seized firearms and other goods from them.

The Riyadh police said the suspects, all Saudi citizens and in their 20s, were involved in a spate of thefts from parked cars in the Al-Khaleej district. They have confessed to the crimes, the police said.

The arrests were made after the police station in the Al-Khaleej district received two complaints about the gang stealing mobile phones and other valuable items from cars.

Based on the description of the suspects and their modus operandi, the alert policement kept a watch and apprehended them. The police said loaded pistols, face mask, 11 stolen mobile phones and wristwatches were confiscated from the suspects. The Al-Khaleej police, which are conducting further investigations, will soon produce the suspects in court.
