RIYADH: The Riyadh Metro will have major economic benefits for the region, and reduce traffic congestion, said German lawmakers visiting the city.
The members of the delegation who visited parts of the project included Johan Vadebol, a member of the German Federal Parliament (Bundstag), Kaddon Andykr, the Middle East-based adviser for the German Democratic Party, and Philip Schonbrunn, a consultant and economic expert.
Those present from the Riyadh Development Authority were Waleed bin Abdulrahman Al-Akrash, project manager, and Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Hazzani, director of architectural projects.
In his presentation Al-Akrash said the Riyadh Metro is one of the main pillars of the city’s urban development strategy.
Vadebol said it was a “magnificent” project and was being carried out by skilled workers according to schedule.
